Fifa? What a bloomin Nuisance!
For this month's nuisance, we are blowing the whistle on FIFA and the Qatar held world cup - shame we can't provide our own Nuisance to make up for the lack of beer at the games!
With all this world cup madness going on, we thought this would be a good excuse to kick off our Nuisance of the month. Following in the footsteps of Liz Truss, we've selected the decision made by Fifa to host the Football World Cup in Qatar as November's, Nuisance of the month.
In a country where same sex relationships remain illegal, women are kept under the tight control of their husbands and flogging is still a form of punishment, it's astounding that they were deemed suitable to host the worlds largest sporting occassion... not to mention that they had no football stadiums built when they won the bid in 2010. But hey ho, I think we all know how they won it don't we?? It's amazing what a bit (or a lot) of cash can do...
It's important that we recognise many of the human rights abuses that have taken place under the Qatari regime and the lives of those that have suffered in the construction of such stadiums. But for now, if you're watching a mid-week game and trying to cut back on your alcohol intake, let us persuade you to enjoy the beautiful game with a can of Nuisance in hand and a clear head in the morning!
While the corruption of the FIFA Organization allows undeserving regimes to host one of our most sacred pastimes, we are here to provide a much more ethical nuisance in the form of our sparkling, botanical soft drinks.
