Maybe, you are yet to embrace the world of podcasts (where have you been?) but you could do with something to make the commute that bit more bearable whilst you are trapped between a sweaty armpit and smelly breath…?

Well, here at Nuisance, we thought it would be fun to compile our list of top 5 food and drink podcasts to put a rumble in your belly, a smile on your face, and to take you to another world! So, here goes:


1. The Off-Menu Podcast

Fancy a laugh?

This one is an absolute must! My personal favourite podcast. Comedians James Acaster & Ed Gamble invite celebrity guests to their ‘dream restaurant’ where they proceed by asking their guests a variety of questions including; still or sparkling water, poppadoms or bread, starter, main course, desert and drink (not in that order).

With guests ranging from Stanley Tucci to Steve Coogan to Daisy May Cooper to Brian Cox, there’s someone for everyone. As well as being a laugh a minute, the podcast comes with a huge range of fantastic restaurant recommendations throughout the UK and the rest of the world.

2. Gastropod

Lover of history and/or science?

Gastropod is a fascinating insight into both the history and science of a wide variety of foods. Co-hosts Cynthia Graber & Nicolla Twilley explore the history of foods, how many of our core ingredients made it to our shores and the place that food play across cultures and society.

Want to hear more about the remarkable role Pineapples played amongst the British Upper Classes, why European sailors weren’t allowed pockets in their overalls, or simply, why beans make us fart so much? Look no further.

3. Desert Island Dishes

Embracing the format of the much loved ‘Desert Island Discs’, Desert Island Dishes is not a million miles away from The Off Menu podcast. Before host and chef, Margie Nomura, ships her guests off to a Desert Island she discusses with them their 7 Desert Island Dishes. One review describes the podcast as “Chocolate Fondant in Podcast form” - if that doesn’t tempt you, I don’t know what will!

4. Table Manners with Jessie Ware

Produced at her very own dining table, pop sensation Jessie Ware invites some special guests from the world of music, sports, politics and culture to drop by and enjoy a delightful meal rustled up by her very own mother, Leanne. If you love a bit of gossip and celebrity rumours, this one’s for you!

5. Hungry

Do you work in FMCG (Fast Moving Consumer Goods), or perhaps you are considering a career in the world of food and drink? Then look no further.

To many food and drink entrepreneurs, Dan Pope’s HUNGRY podcast is becoming somewhat of a Bible as to how to make a successful business. Described as “the podcast for Challenger Food and Drink brands wanting to pour gasoline on their growth” Pope proceeds to interview highly successful business people in the world of food & drink. The podcast gives listeners a remarkable insight into some of the pitfalls, strategies and decision making that has led to the success of businesses such as Tyrrells Crisps, Rude Health, GAILS bakery and many more.
